As some of you might know, I’m a Serato user, I’ve been using it for several months now, replacing my old vinyls. Well I may be switching to ableton live now after the announcement of the new APC40. I had heard rumblings of Ableton and Akai working together, but I didn’t really expect something like this, I also never realized that ableton was DJ-able, I mean I’ve seen some of the other fancy controllers, but I always kind of thought it was for the live PA guys who say they’re a DJ but really just play some loops, if I can load in my library, set cue points, and play whole songs without latency or insane start up times, I’ll give it a try. I’m probably just getting a bit hyped up over the nice buttons and knobbage, but I’m optimistic about the new possibilities with this device. Anyways, it’s called the APC 60 and its dropping alongside the new version 8 of live, you can read more about it or watch a video that is upsettingly devoid of some of the exciting details or a shot of it in action.
