Music Monday

Just a few tracks I’ve been digging lately

I’m a big fan of La Roux and an even bigger fan of Just a band, so I was really happy to find this remix, complete with unfiltered bassline and pitch-lfo stabs.
La Roux – Bulletproof (Just A Band Remix)

Coinecedentally I first heard of Djedjotronic from his remix of Burn It Out by previously mentioned Just A Band, this is the Boys Noize remix, the sound is what you would expect from both, but the structure is really different, it’s pretty much just “build ups” of loops that either rise in pitch, filter cutoff frequency or volume. I’m generally not a big fan of the whole “stand around waving your hands and acting like you’re enjoying it when you’re really just pissed you have to wait to dance” kind of breakdowns, but these are a bit different, you could dance through the whole song.
Djedjotronic feat.Spoek – Dirty and Hard (Boys Noize’s Jump If You’re An Idiot Remix)

Seems like everyone liked the Ocelot I posted last, and since you asked for more I figured I’d post my favorite, the Tom Nelville remix. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of the Treasure Fingers mix too, just with the drug/sex/rockandroll lyrics a dirty electro banger seems more fitting.
Ocelot – Our Time (Tom Neville Remix)

Random Music I Decided To Post

We got an unexpected amount of traffic from the Michael Jackson post, and were even linked to from a rolling stone article. I started looking and saw that it seems like a lot of people have been looking for Michael Jackson remixes, so I figured I’d start this one off with an MJ song that probably wouldn’t come up on a hype machine post, it’s a Boys Noize track that is more or less a rework of “Beat It”.

Boys Noize – Eat it(Clumsy DJ Re-edit)

Booty Luv – Shine (Sidechains Remix)

Daft Punk – On Off (The Noizy Kidz Daft Zapping Remix)

Little Boots – New In Town (Fred Falke Remix)

Miami Horror – Make You Mine

Mr. Oizo – Positif (LFO Remix)

VHS or Beta – Disco Paradise

Feral Spotlight:Attack 1985

2 Friends joined a team of DJs who love to play mash-ups and massive electro Tracks, ATTACK 1985 are 2 young German Guys Stephan and Marcel. What happened at first only in the private area and to the pleasure of own soul, ran very promisingly, so that the striving for good music became shifted ones, in the end, further outwardly up to any club scenery. Numerous nights full enthusiasm consisted in doing the people at musical level in ecstasy, many positive resonances of the partycrowd and the slow forming of a draft did her other to let prosper the project.Theyre Sets are crazy combinations with classic rockabilly tracks being mixed together with disco while electro and new wave would clash one song later.
So let the ATTACK begin!

Who would you like to perform with in the future?
Soulwax would be the biggest thing..they are heroes!and Michael Jackson but they would get en heart attack from our music.

Who were your greatest influences musically?

Hmmm maybe Metallica vs. Aphex Twin

When did you finally realize you wanted to be a Dj/Producer?
After a shity house music party with 16..producing only 4 years ago.

Who affects you today musically?
We think alot of artists would say the same names like Justice blah blah, but thats the truth, all this french stuff is very good but they’re are also alot of artists that make good music in the underground without this hype. We like everything from Proxy and Boys Noize, they have this strong and rough sound we love!

What CD is in your car stereo right now?

Feral spotlight:Insight Dynamiks

Oli, is half English, half French and moved to France when he was 10 years old. It was another 5 years until he would meet Ben and start a music group.

Oli discovered electronic music during the 90’s. At the time he was also a keen guitar player with years of guitar lessons with a jazz teacher (he deciphered the guitar solo of Stairway to Heaven by ear aged 13). In 2000 he graduated from high school Oli went back to the UK to study business. During his studies he put on his first parties, meeting his first producers and dj’s, playing his first mixes … By 2003 he had already played and collaborated in places like Greece, Spain and Italy.

Ben started djing when he was 14 and by his 20th birthday, was throwing huge parties around the suburbs of Paris. Perfectionist and eclectic he inspires himself through a variety of different genres thanks to his stupidly massive vinyl collection. After his mechanical engineering studies he too came to Brighton and Insight Dynamiks took a new turn and got a whole lot more serious.

The years spent in Brighton slowly pushed the two into creating their own tracks. Soon they had a full-fledged studio setup and were doing just that.

To get the album project done, Oli and Ben decided beginning of 2007 to move back to Paris where they have been producing ever since. It was in Paris that electro went from maybe to totally and turned the group into what it is today. Oli is currently the one with audio engineering and synthesis skills. Ben throws loads of the ideas into the mix with his djing experience.

In February 2009 Insight Dynamiks released 2 EP’s called ‘Lucky Striked’ and ‘Peace by Piece’. You can find these releases at most online music stores.
