Feral Spotlight:Deebs

3727333086_804e0f1579_b

Deebs  started playing classical music on the violin at age 5. During highschool he taught himself the guitar and drums and played with a few bands – nothing very serious though. Once university hit he became exposed to the electro scene and was immediately influenced to start producing his own tracks and DJ’ing. He’s been producing his own stuff for about a year now and has been DJ’ing for about a year as well at parties and a couple clubs along the way. This summer him and his friend are organizing the “Four to the Floor” parties in Guelph with the goal of promoting electro music in Guelph and giving exposure to local/Southern Ontario DJ’s. He hopes to get more and more shows in the near future while continuing to produce his own original mixes as well as remixes.

Tell me some of the dj’s you’ve performed with?

I’ve been lucky enough to DJ with Torontonians: Thunderheist, Gingy and Golden Gloves in my short DJ’ing career.

Who would you like to perform with in the future?
Daft Punk…I heard their live shows are OK.

Who were your greatest influences musically?

Started listening to Radiohead and The Chemical Brothers in university about 3 years ago. The diversity of their music allowed me to make the transition from listening to indie/experimental rock into purely electronic music. I think Radiohead’s more recent albums Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief really motivated me to start playing with effects and synths. I came across a Crookers’ mixtape as well over a year ago… that got me into the grimey shit.

Random Music I Decided To Post

We got an unexpected amount of traffic from the Michael Jackson post, and were even linked to from a rolling stone article. I started looking and saw that it seems like a lot of people have been looking for Michael Jackson remixes, so I figured I’d start this one off with an MJ song that probably wouldn’t come up on a hype machine post, it’s a Boys Noize track that is more or less a rework of “Beat It”.

Boys Noize – Eat it(Clumsy DJ Re-edit)

Booty Luv – Shine (Sidechains Remix)

Daft Punk – On Off (The Noizy Kidz Daft Zapping Remix)

Little Boots – New In Town (Fred Falke Remix)

Miami Horror – Make You Mine

Mr. Oizo – Positif (LFO Remix)

VHS or Beta – Disco Paradise

Oli, is half English, half French and moved to France when he was 10 years old. It was another 5 years until he would meet Ben and start a music group.

Oli discovered electronic music during the 90’s. At the time he was also a keen guitar player with years of guitar lessons with a jazz teacher (he deciphered the guitar solo of Stairway to Heaven by ear aged 13). In 2000 he graduated from high school Oli went back to the UK to study business. During his studies he put on his first parties, meeting his first producers and dj’s, playing his first mixes … By 2003 he had already played and collaborated in places like Greece, Spain and Italy.

Ben started djing when he was 14 and by his 20th birthday, was throwing huge parties around the suburbs of Paris. Perfectionist and eclectic he inspires himself through a variety of different genres thanks to his stupidly massive vinyl collection. After his mechanical engineering studies he too came to Brighton and Insight Dynamiks took a new turn and got a whole lot more serious.

The years spent in Brighton slowly pushed the two into creating their own tracks. Soon they had a full-fledged studio setup and were doing just that.

To get the album project done, Oli and Ben decided beginning of 2007 to move back to Paris where they have been producing ever since. It was in Paris that electro went from maybe to totally and turned the group into what it is today. Oli is currently the one with audio engineering and synthesis skills. Ben throws loads of the ideas into the mix with his djing experience.

In February 2009 Insight Dynamiks released 2 EP’s called ‘Lucky Striked’ and ‘Peace by Piece’. You can find these releases at most online music stores.

Feral Spotlight:Marc Bell

mb-pic

Worlds collide in many aspects of life. In fact some of the best things in life are a result of that very principle.
The combination of seemingly and completely different elements can be magical. That’s what Marc Bell’s musical background and experience brings to any project, song, or remix he lays hands on.

Hold tight and keep your ears clean and wax free, cause you’ll be dancing and the volume will make you get into it easily!!!
The sheer power of the beat and soulful anthems will instantly turn whatever you are into a dance floor. Marc Bell throws down the gauntlet to his peers and sounds the siren of the new evolution of pop-electronica.
Pop, soul, rock, dance, world……..whatever! They are now merely parts of Bell’s Frankenstein-esque groove machine.
The sound is all on its own, a pure Troublemakers stiletto that stabs you right in that exact spot where it should. Talent and balls combined makes great music! A colorful vision of an upcoming artist, an upcoming label, an upcoming movement, no borders, no limitations, and no rules. Just great sound!

Hot shit! Guaranteed satisfaction and pulverization.

Ed banger crew get into a Brawl at cinespace

So the other night was Busy P’s birthday bash at Cinespace in Los Angles, At the bash a fight broke out after Kavinsky was denied entry into VIP where the rest of the Ed Banger crew was. Some words were exchanged between Kavinsky and the bouncer leading to the bouncer pushing Kavinsky; When the rest of the Ed Banger crew saw what was happening they quickly jumped in.Apparently the bouncer was denying Kavinsky entry in to the VIP area because all the entry level average joes were really amped after hearing Thomas Bangalter (one of the Daft Punk members) play a live set earlier in the night and were bombarding the VIP area hoping to gain access. Is this the beginning of the end you decide….Below are some pics of the events that took place. You can see some notable people in the brawl like So Me,Kavinsky,Thomas Bangalter,Busy P to name a few.
